OHIO scp newborn mentoring workshop | st. louis newborn photographer

If Ohio was a test run for my destination SCP Newborn Mentoring Workshops, than it set the ball ridiculously high.  Not only did I ended up having a completely booked 2-day workshop, but I ended up opening up another full 1-day workshop on Monday as well.  And let me tell you… I think my SCP Newborn Mentoring Workshops attract the sweetest, most determined individuals ever.  I was so lucky to get to know these twelve individuals over the course of my three days there and had literally the best time teaching them all of my knowledge… But you don’t have to take my word for it.  Here are some of their reviews:

And thanks to our amazing host Michelle of Iris B for hosting us in her studio all three days (and for capturing this shot of me doing what I love to do most.. snuggling those babies!)

“I was so excited to attend the SCP Newborn Mentoring Workshop because I really want to specialize my business in Newborn Photography, but didn’t want to start until I knew I had all of the knowledge and skills needed to create a safe environment for the babies and also to create beautiful images for my clients. Stephanie was a great teacher – so calm, friendly, and passionate. She genuinely wanted us all to learn and improve. It was great to be with a group of women who all laughed, learned, and grew together. I photographed my second newborn session ever a few days after the workshop and my clients commented on how great I was handling the baby, soothing her, calming her, and maintaining patience and a peaceful session. I owe a huge thank you to Stephanie because her mentoring gave me the confidence and knowledge I needed to take the steps to make my dream a reality! I feel like years down the road when I look back at my business I’m going to think “I owe all of this success to Stephanie for giving me the tools to start out right!  I loved watching Stephanie work with the newborns day 1 and then the day 2 attending the hands-on portion where I actually got to pose the newborn. Stephanie explained each pose very well and while watching her transition to the next pose, everything just clicked! The hands-on portion was very helpful too because with her guidance I was able to implement all the knowledge from day 1 and realize that I could do this too! I also think the most valuable part may have been learning the angles to photograph at. It was crazy the difference getting the right angle makes photographing a newborn!  OH! And also the post-processing! Simply brilliant, Stephanie! My whole post processing steps have changed for the better and I get to spend way more time with my family now!   I just wanted to say I appreciate your time so much! I know that was time you could have spent with your husband or little ones or with your clients – and I just am so thankful and feel so blessed that you offered this to us! I’m slightly teary-eyed writing this! ”

“I had an amazing time learning from you last weekend. It was truly incredible!! As soon as I got in the car I looked at my husband (practically giddy) and said “I LOVED every second of it!!”.  I am a teacher myself and often say that if you want to master something you must learn from a master- and you certainly are a master of newborn photography and posing.  Beyond your skill for posing and clearly your knack for teaching, your incredibly sweet and easy going nature made the day that much more enjoyable and eye opening.  Even now as I begin to edit some of the images, I am in awe that with your guidance and teaching I was able to capture such amazing images that truly need little processing. I feel far more confident in posing and lighting as I work through newborn sessions and the knowledge you shared truly could only be gained during an in person workshop. I really feel blessed to have gotten to spend the day learning from you and am so excited to use my newly acquired knowledge.  It was an investment that was absolutely worth every penny (and then some :))  I loved everything about it!  I came wanting to better understand how to pose and camera angles. It was incredible helpful to see how Stephanie composed and shot an image.  Her immediate feedback and critiques allowed for adjustments and the ability capture truly flawless images in camera.  There were no secrets left “untold” and the atmosphere was so welcoming, warm and just down right fun!!  Michelle of Iris B. was an outstanding host and even the parents of those sweet little babes were so gracious and sweet.

I feel I have gained the knowledge and “how to” and now must practice to truly work toward achieving the results I desire. I chose this workshop because not only would I receive in person instruction but I felt the reviews of the posing guide were phenomenal and it would also be an incredible tool to use after the session.  Finally, I think the FB group is an amazing tool and resource.  It is a place to continue to share and gain knowledge which is a very valuable asset.

You are amazing!  I feel truly lucky to be able to have learned from you!

“Excellent workshop.  Stephanie was extremely patient and very clear on how to pose the newborns.  She was very open in sharing her entire workflow;  from the initial contact through final editing of the images.   I really liked that it was a small group which enabled us to get the attention when needed.   The most advantageous part was the 2nd day hands on.  I am a person that learns best when “doing”.  This really helped.   Stephanie could  not have been a better instructor.  She never made me feel rushed or that I was holding the group back when asking questions.  She has the wonderful ability to listen while working and making sure that your question was fully answered.  I never felt that I couldn’t ask a question.”

“Words cannot describe how absolutely AMAZING the SCP Newborn Workshop was.   I was very nervous about the workshop but as soon as I walked through the door of the studio it was like every one of us had known each other forever! Stephanie went over every detail of a newborn session…posing, lighting, props, soothing techniques and post processing! I have bought a few newborn posing guides but none are comparable to the workshop and the SCP posing guide. I knew the first day of the workshop that this was the best investment of my career.  The second day, made me believe this even more. It was awesome having Stephanie right beside me as I posed the babies, directing and coach me to do each pose perfectly.  I cannot describe how grateful I am that I got the opportunity to attend the workshop and not only meet but become friends with Stephanie Cotta!”

“I absolutely loved the hands on part of the workshop and learning side by side with Stephanie in a fun setting.  It was such a great learning experience to break down each pose as well as camera settings as we went along and to be able to ask questions as they came up.  I felt this was a great workshop for most levels of photographers because Stephanie’s approach breaks things down to very simplistic terms and she is very good about making sure everyone is understanding how to do things before moving on and no question was ever “too dumb” which allowed everyone to feel her as very approachable.  Additionally, it was great to learn tips for speeding up my post processing.  I tend to spend entirely too much time on one image and with the tips I learned I plan to cut my post processing time in half!”

“The atmosphere of the workshop was phenomenal. Stephanie was very lively and fun. I was very comfortable from the moment I walked into the studio. No question was a dumb question to her, and even though we learned everything from posing, to safety, settings of cameras, post processing, and business aspects, we still had a lot of laughs and fun. I have pictures to prove it!  I loved that the workshop covered everything imaginable about newborn photography. Its more than just about how you pose and capture images. I had a lot of questions about dealing with parents, business questions, and more that Stephanie really helped us with.”

“Overall review of SCP Newborn Mentoring Workshop: 10++++

Loved everything about the workshop.  I love how she broke down how to go from each pose to make it run fast and smooth for newborn posing.  My favorite part was definitely the editing part how Stephanie showed us how much faster it will take us to edit the photos going from 3+ hours down to 35 Minutes! I just need to learn how to edit my sessions using the software (I have used it once and it is amazing just need to get use to it) so I can spend more time with my husband!

I would definitely recommend this to anyone that would like to take their skills to the next level.  I think that taking this workshop gives you the confidence you need to rock the newborn sessions! Can’t wait until I get to use all of the information that I learned from this experience:)”
